The Scientific Committee of the 34th European Sport Management Conference of the European Association for Sport Management (EASM) invites scholars and practitioners to submit abstract and workshops contributions for consideration.
Deadline for Submissions: Monday 20th April 2026 (23.59 CET). Please note: No extensions will be permitted.
- Importantly, please note the following conference policy:
- Please submit your abstract in the ConfTool only in one track, as multiple submissions are not accepted.
- The presenting author must get registered and pay the conference fee no later than 31st July 2026.
- The following conditions apply:
- Until 30th June 2026: early bird conference registration fee: 550 EUR, early bird PhD student conference registration fee 500 EUR
- Starting from 1st July 2026: standard conference registration fee: 650 EUR, standard PhD student conference registration fee 600 EUR.
- The abstract(s) should be presented at the conference to be included within the conference program and book of abstracts.
- First-author restriction: maximum of 1 first authorship; several co-authorships are possible.
- Presenting author restriction: maximum of 2 presentations per participant
- Workshops restriction: minimum of 2 convenors from two different organizations (representing more than one country).
- Due to the large number of expected presentations, we ask for your understanding that we cannot accommodate individual requests regarding specific presentation days or times. Presenters are expected to be available throughout the entire conference.
Types of submission:
Abstracts submission opens the opportunity to give an oral presentation during a parallel session or a poster. The applicants choose their preference.
Oral presentation sessions
In parallel sessions, every presenter gives a maximum 12-minute oral presentation, with additional 5 minutes for discussion. Our parallel session topics are:
- Diversity and Inclusion Issues in Sport Management
- Sustainability and Sport Management
- Broader, New and Critical Aspects of Sport Management
- Public Health, Well-being and Physical Activity Management
- Sport Marketing and Sponsorship
- Sport Consumer Behaviour
- Sport, Media, and Communication
- Digital Transformation, Innovation and Technology
- Sport Development and Socio-Cultural Perspectives
- Sport Management Education
- Sport Governance, Sport Policy and Sport Law
- Strategy, Leadership, and Stakeholder Management in Sport
- Sport Tourism and Events
Poster sessions
For the Poster Session, boards will be provided for all poster presenters to showcase their work during the conference. Posters should be in a portrait style (A0 recommended, 84cm x 119cm). The topics for poster sessions are the same as those for oral presentations.
Submission guidelines
Abstract submissions should be made through the ConfTool system (https://www.conftool.com/easm2026), by the stated deadline. Abstracts submitted after the deadline or not complying with submission guidelines will not be considered for review.
For an abstract to enter the review process and be considered for presentation during the conference the following guidelines must be adhered to:
- Length: the overall text length of an abstract has to be between 650 and 800 words, i.e. excluding title, author names and references (maximum 10 references).
- Text only: Abstracts should include text only, i.e. images (pictures, figures, and tables) are not accepted.
- Title: use a brief title to clearly indicate the nature of the research/project/contribution; capitalize the first letter of each word; do not use abbreviations in the title.
- Author names: provide names of all authors, their institutional affiliation, and e-mail address during the online submission process.
- Language: Abstracts must be in English language.
- Formatting and style guide: APA 7th edition.
Abstracts can be submitted in two categories:
- Scientific Abstract (including scientific work submitted to the Poster Session).
- Professional Practice Abstract (including contributions submitted to the Poster Session).
Category 1: Scientific Abstracts. They should be structured using the following sections:
- Aim and Research Questions
- Theoretical Background and Literature Review
- Research Design, Methodology and Data Analysis
- Results/Findings and Discussion *
- Conclusion, Academic Contribution, and Implications *
- References (maximum 10; to be entered into extra box during the submission process)
* In cases where the results/findings are not yet available at the time of abstract submission, authors must mention this and provide a preview of the nature of the results/findings as well as envisioned contribution/implications.
Category 2: Professional Practice Abstracts. They should be structured using the following sections:
- Statement that Abstract relates to professional practice (mandatory)
- Purpose
- Background
- Design and Implementation
- Outputs/Outcomes, Reflections and Future Development
- References (if applicable)
Workshops
Workshops are a proposal coming from at least two scholars from different organizations (representing more than one country). They aim to share knowledge, encourage stimulating discussion and intellectual engagement between participants on a particular subtheme (i.e. a specific focus within a more general topic). Workshops convenors are in charge of gathering their panel and submitting a full proposal.
Convenors have to submit a proposal for the workshop through the ConfTool system (https://www.conftool.com/easm2026) by the same deadline of oral presentations stated above. The proposal should include the following elements.
- The theme/title of the proposed workshop with a short description of the relevance and aim of the proposed workshop (max. 500 words).
- Contributors to the workshop: a) Convenors: The names, institutions, e-mail addresses, and short bio (about 100 words) of all convenors, and b) Contributors: Names of contributors, institutions, and e-mail addresses
- Individual abstracts of the workshop contributors (Optional) (300 words, excluding title, author names and references).
